Family campground nestled in the banks of Helton Creek in Ashe County, North Carolina. Five miles from Hwy 16 N. Minutes away from the New River, Virginia Creeper Trail, Shatley Springs and Mount Rogers. Shady & peaceful. Sites for tents & R/V hookups.
Looked like a nice spot. Seasonal camping only...could not find this information readily available. Couldn't reach anyone at the number on the sign so we went elsewhere
Great campground right on the creek with multiple access points for fishing. Camp owner, Justin, is a wonderful host and great provider of recommendations for fishing and local places to check out for food. We will return for sure!!
We've been coming here since 2013 about twice a year. We come every may with a group of friends to trout fish and have brought our children a handful of times. This trip we were disappointed that we were asked to camp on the otherside of the creek, away from the bathhouse and easy access to the creek. There was plenty of room on the main side, however since another couple was there for the 1st time the manager didn't want our kids disturbing their peaceful experience. We still enjoyed out time, the kids just didn't get to play in the creek like planned and getting all 3 bathed and walking back to the otherside of the creek was a hassle.
This is our first time here but we will definitely continue to come back again and again and we don't live far at all from here and the creek is literally at the front door of our tent
This is nice small campground that has a hand full of yearly parked camping trailers. It has about a half a dozen tent and small trailer sites - like pop-ups. There is a small bath house with 2 shower/bathrooms. Notably it is located on the Big Helton Creek. Access from either end will require travel over a dirt road and some single wide bridges.
