Great experience, but let me tell you some of the rules, make sure you arrive at least two hours before the sun goes down, because you need some time to acclimate to all the things you’ll need to understand to make this a successful under canvas experience. Bring a flashlight, or even better a headlamp, there is no electricity, except a 12 V system in the tents. There is no cell service I mean no cell service, not joking.

Now that I have said these things, let me tell you about the experience .., because no one has Internet everyone tend to all congregate in the central tent that has electricity and all the other stuff you need, but the people talk, no one is looking at their cell phone - no one is preoccupied. Everybody talks to everybody. It’s a great experience I promise you will love it.

This is my second stay at Under Canvas. The first being Zion in 2018. It is a wonderful concept. The tents are spacious and clean. The bathrooms also regularly cleaned. Food was great. Location is great as it is on country road out of the main town. It’s no more than 15-20min from start of national park. The team were very friendly and accommodating and suggested a few activities I was not planning on doing before they suggested it. If you are a bit of a princess this is not the accommodation for you. This is a great halfway point between doing all the work yourself and still being under the stars. Till next time.

Under Canvas GSM was an amazing experience for our family. The location was beautiful, the campsite was intimate and the tents were not on top of each other, which made you feel like you had your own little piece of the mountain. The food was delicious and the kitchen was able to accommodate our gluten and dairy allergies with no problems. Tents were incredible and the family suite with indoor plumbing was a splurge and a gift.

This is our second stay with the UC outfit and we'd definitely stay again. Our family had a blast.

Our UNDER CANVAS stay was very memorable ~ we had the absolute best time. My husband was somewhat hesitant when he realized he would be unplugged for 4 days but he soon acclimated and started relaxing and truly enjoying himself. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating — they served breakfast and dinner only and I have to say the food was very good and quick to receive. The highlight of UNDER CANVAS is the central tent where it all happens — everyone comes and goes as they please, but there are cards and games to play, many conversation to have with fellow tenters and just an overall good feeling to be around others doing the same, relaxing, enjoying conversations, listening to live music ~ it was a super good feeling to just be!!!!

There were a few challenges and just a few suggestions for you: bring a flash light, 1extra battery lantern for inside the tent for more functioning light and a fire starter lighter to use for the wood burning stove inside your tent. Other than that ~ it has everything you need for the basics. We will definitely return again to UNDER CANVAS — exploring another location!! 👍. THANK YOU “Under Canvas”!

Coming to Under Canvas Smoky Mountains in the fall was an absolutely incredible experience. First of all, the campsite, even the drive up to the site, was stunning. We were treated to beautiful fall colors all around, which was a lovely first impression. The tent itself: we went with the stargazer which I think is totally worth the extra $. Not only for gazing at night, but it provides lovely light into the tent during the day. Using the tent was super easy and intuitive. The demo they have set up in the lobby tent was easy to understand; we had no issues with anything not working or being hard to use. Every single staff member we interacted with was super friendly and helpful. We also had two breakfasts and one dinner there. Do not skip the food service! We were so happy with every meal; the dinner especially felt special for a campsite in the middle of the woods! I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat. It is expensive - maybe a bit too high, but you do get a lot for what you pay for. I can't wait to try other Under Canvas locations. Thanks for a memorable trip!!
