Hike, bike, swim, kayak, and camp here in historic Fries, a rural town located on the banks of the New River. These two available driveway sites, located in-town on a vacant residential property, are a rare find. Direct access to the New River Trail is a less than 10 second bike ride away. The New River is seasonally visible from the property. Direct access to the river is at the other end of town at the New River State Park parking area and trailhead.
Fries is an outdoors lover's heaven! Hike or bike the New River Trail, 57 miles in length Fries to Pulaski. Swim, tube, kayak, canoe, and fish in the New River, putting in at the New River State Park trailhead in town. Go for a swim at the outdoor pool at the Fries Community Center. For a bit of relaxation and cultural immersion, head over to the old time music jam at the Community Center on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm; bring your instrument and join in or just go to listen! Grayson Highlands State Park, Mount Rogers, Whitetop Mountain, and the Jefferson National Forest are each about a scenic hour's drive from Fries."
NOTE: RVs, pull-behinds, and vans are allowed but must be self-contained as there are no restroom facilities nor water available on-site.
Turn down Carrico St. at 704 E. Main (a two-story yellow house with a For Sale sign out front). Site 1 is located on on Carrico along the side of the property (see photos). To get to Site 2, continue down Carrico just a bit and turn left onto Hester; Site 2 is the blacktop driveway along the back of the property.
We were here about 7 years ago and enjoyed the rv park. Now we are back. Tom is just as friendly and helpful. Perfectly clean bathroom and shower. Easy access. to new river trail
This was a beautiful, immaculate and quiet campground. Tom is the camp host and owner. What a nice man! A local lady bakes fresh bread that she delivers to the campground office on Friday. It was still warm!
I would highly recommend this place.
Great little RV park nestled against a small stream. Friendly and helpful owner, clean campground and decent wifi. We've been here a couple times and will definitely return.
Fries New River RV park was fantastic! Tom is a great host park is super clean and a neat layout…..spacious sites with plenty of privacy. We will definitely be back. Very convenient to the New River Trail for bike riding, a beautiful area to visit.
Beautiful, very well maintained RV park! No bad site in the whole park. Spacious and the quietest campground I’ve ever been to. Campers were so friendly. The owner, Tom, is incredibly kind and engaging-stopping by to check in on us. The icing on the cake was the warm bread delivered to the campground one of the mornings we were there! We can’t wait to return and stay longer than 3 nights!
