Elk Creek Campground is perfect! Tent & RV Sites and Bathrooms are all kept super clean. There's always a friendly staff member nearby to answer questions or assist. Not too far off I-70, but far enough for a back-country-by-the-creek feel. Also has good Wi-Fi/Internet connection.
We enjoyed our stay at Elk Creek. Our son had a soccer game in Silt on Saturday, so the campground was a perfect place for us to sneak in one last camping trip while also making his soccer game.
Check-in was super smooth and welcoming and a staff member led us to our site on an ATV and helped us get our camper parked. We loved how welcoming they are to dogs. There is a fenced dog park which was great because our dog does not do his business on a leash well, so it was great being able to take him up there for him to get the job done.
Our kiddos especially enjoyed the game room that had various games. They also have "golden nuggets" hidden around the campground and when a kiddo finds one, they can turn it in for ice cream.
The sites are quite close together, but I get it - trying to squeeze in as many as possible. My kids actually loved how cozy the campground was because they could have free reign. They are already planning a return trip and have a creekside spot planned out. They loved creekwalking and fishing.
The bathrooms were good and clean. The staff was super helpful and kind - always greeting us when they passed. We especially appreciated them allowing us to extend out visit past checkout when our daughter got sick in the night. Having been up much of the night then sleeping until 9am, we would have not made the 11am checkout and we really appreciated their flexibility in allowing us to stay as long as we needed. And everyone was checking in with us to see how she was doing. THEN when it was time to go, our truck would not start because our kids kept leaving doors open. I think it was the owner who came and gave us a jump and chatted with my husband for a bit.
Overall - great stay. Never would have found this sweet campground without having a soccer game 15 minutes away. So glad we did. Nearby, we visited the alpaca farm which was fun and we all loved Rifle Falls. We will likely return - it is a place I feel comfortable sitting and reading a book while our kids run free in the creek and game room. Very family and dog friendly campground!
We loved our short 2 night stay at Elk Creek Campground. The campground is beautifully laid out and the creek is wonderful. The features of the campground are are well appointed from the laundry to the dog park. The staff is friendly and helpful. We really want to make a return trip and stay longer next time.
This campground was recently totally redone with all new water, power, and dump connections. Our level site was parallel to a creek about 10 feet away. Very clean bathrooms, excellent internet and cell coverage. Staff is incredible only loving what they do! It is nestled 3 miles off highway, quiet and our favorite camp site so far in 4000 mile trip. DON’T TELL ANYONE:)
We had a wonderful time. Loved the campground, location, and friendly staff! We stayed in the premium cabin 5. Quaint and rustic. Perfect for the 2 of us and our dogs. The cabin was clean and stocked enough for us. The only thing to would comment on would be to remove the cobwebs from the windows and ceiling light. I know it’s camping and Halloween is getting close 😂 but I’d rather not see them in my cabin 😆. Not a big deal just some feedback. Still a 5 star experience! The fishing was also a lot of fun. We caught and released 6 rainbow trout. 😁. Great little places to eat both in town and Glenwood Springs. We will definitely book there again!!
