A backcountry campsite on the Spray Park Trail in Mount Rainier National Park.
Beautiful clear lake…do be aware it’s almost a 20 mile gravel road to the lake
Mowich Lake is absolutely beautiful. I visited here with my family, and there are beautiful hiking trails, and the lake itself is gorgeous. In fact, I went swimming in the lake, and the water is extremely blue, extremely clear, and extremely cold. I would highly recommend visiting here, just keep in mind that in order to get to it, you have to drive on a rough gravel road for over 10 miles. Plus there's no cell service, making Mowich Lake even more peaceful. You also have to either pay for a discovery pass (year long), or pay $5 to visit for the day, but every penny is worth it. Love this place
Came here on a cloudy, drizzling day and couldn’t see Mt Rainier. The last 15 miles on 165 is gravel, not paved and rocky so be prepared to drive longer than expected. We will have to come next time when the weather is good. I can only imagine how beautiful it will be. The campground looks nice.
Half the camp sites outside of the wilderness permit area are free you just need a national park pass or disabled placard or military card for entry. Photo is of units like 3 miles from Mowhich
Popular campground, backpacking and day hikes and the lake is was beautiful. 15miles of unpaved road to Mowich lake camp there's not a lot of potholes yet. Get there early to find a good parking spot or you'll end up parking on the side of the road.
