Beautiful camping off the highway with views of elk habitat, meadows, oaks and waterfalls along nearby Bear Creek. We camped there during rain and were grateful for a peaceful place to stay the night. Clean pit toilets.
Large dispersed camping. Car and rv day parking up top with bathrooms and picnic tables. Camping area below is immense. 2 more bathrooms, fire rings, picnic tables and access to the river.
Its wonderfully quiet, you can see stars at night for days and its beautiful. 10/10 would go again.
Lots of Star Thistles and little shade. Bear Creek runs along the site and offers some swimming possibilities, although other nearby swimming holes are better. But the place is free to camp, has pit toilets, and is a remarkably quiet and pleasant place to spend the evening.
I'm on a 16 day motorcycle trip from Chicago to San Francisco. This was one of my very favorite campsites. You are roughing it here. But it's beautiful.
