About Campground

The campground, adjacent to a meadow and above Trujillo Meadows Reservoir, is composed of two sections - Upper and Lower. The campground has been cleared of most trees due to beatle kill. Sites 34 through 39 are in an inner loop which are not RV friendly. There is an observation platform across from camping sites 40 and 41 to view a waterfall. Boating and fishing on the reservoir; small motorized and nonmotorized water craft only. Hiking on nearby trails. The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, a historic narrow-gauge railroad, runs nearby. The facilities are large, with 50 campsites, one with parking for a two-car group. All sites have picnic tables, and fireplaces (limited firewood); there are toilets, drinking water and ample parking. Refuse receptacles and pickups are provided. Barrier-free facilities are offered here. Los Pinos Trail 736 can be accessed via the improved dirt Forest Road 1C and 4 WD Forest Road 118.

Directions

From Antonito, CO, take US 285 south 0.3 miles to Hwy 17. Continue straight onto Rd. 17 and go 35.2 miles to Trujillo Meadows Reservoir sign. Turn right at sign (dirt) and go 0.1 miles to "T" intersection and campground sign (Forest Rd. 118). Turn right onto Rd 118 and go 2.1 miles to campground on right.
