About Campground

Camping with your own tent and gear is free of charge. Just ask a host for tips on where to set up camp once you get here.

Limited RV hookups are available for $49 per night. We provide power and water, but no sewage, cable, or internet.

Located near the famously beautiful Gates of the Arctic National Park and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Coldfoot Camp provides easy access for adventure and play in the surrounding Brooks Range wilderness.

Coldfoot’s prime location at Mile 175 on the Dalton Highway serves as a natural base for summer flightseeing, hiking, rafting, fishing, and exploring.

In the colder months, there’s world-class aurora viewing, dog mushing adventures, and a chance to take a scenic backcountry snowshoe tour with a local guide.

Guests range from travelers exploring the region, to workers staying in camp while on a remote job, to truckers seeking coffee and a rest break. A unique mix of personalities brings a great energy to a secluded area.

Coldfoot Camp is open year-round and features a cafe, rustic (but clean) overnight accommodations, tour services, fuel, and minor tire repairs.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour package. They set the stage by saying you’ll be staying in “rustic Coldfoot Camp” which doesn’t quite capture it.

The rooms are definitely rustic, but the beds are great and you have your own bathroom! On top of that, their morning and evening buffets - while a little pricey - are very good!

Apparently they got cell service about 18 months ago. It’s only 3G for me on Verizon, but in the middle of nowhere it was nice to be able to maintain a bit of contact with the world.

This is a cool experience and I definitely recommend it if you have a chance.

Beautiful spot on the Dalton highway. Cafe has a gift shop and bar. Even far from the city the food is real good fresh vegetables, fresh in house baked deserts and breads. Staff is friendly. There is a small post office, small hotel, a nice area to camp if your passing through. Bikers and bicyclists pitch tents on their journey. In the middle of beautiful mountains amazing northern lights. They got lunch and dinner buffets with a great selection of meats and fresh foods salad bar and all fresh.

We stayed at coldfoot camp for 3 days and 2 nights. Room have 2 single beds and a bathroom. The rooms are cozy and clean. Bathrooms are bit small and wore out. Air conditing can be either too hot or cold based on the wing of floor. Overall, good stay for aurora touring
