I just wanted to say thank you to Black Chewing Bones Camp and staff for offering such a peaceful space to camp. The sites were spacious, quiet, and so peaceful on the water. Staff welcomed us and shared information about the area. The bathrooms were clean and the entire campground was well kept. After a long day of driving, this campground offered the peace we needed in the beauty of nature and quiet space.
My stay was extremely enjoyable. 10 minute drive into East Glacier made it a breeze. And 10 minutes away from Babb gave me a better alternative in buying gas, as it was about .20-.30 cents cheaper. **at the time**
Don’t hesitate.
What a disappointment this campsite was! The place is beautiful, but we clearly felt like we were bothering the girl at reception when we arrived, who was sitting on the sofas. Our G3 spot is ultra basic with no camping table (there were some on the other spots but not ours).
Then we couldn't do our laundry in the evening because all the machines were reserved and the visitor center closes at 8pm.
The girl at reception told us to come back the next day at 8am when it opens, which we did. We waited in front of the gate for 1 hour until I asked one of the guys in his pickup truck who was circling the campsite and he told me that no one was coming today! What a joke! What a waste of time! Thanks to this girl at reception for her lack of sympathy and bad information.
And the shower water smells terrible, and the state of the toilets, brown with dirt, suggests that they are rarely cleaned...
