An information and interpretive kiosk is located just off of County Road 162 in the Chalk Creek canyon. Informational panels detail the history and geology of the area.
From Buena Vista, Colorado, travel south for about 7 miles on Highway 285. Turn right onto County Road 162, and travel west passing the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs resort (private), for 6 miles. An information kiosk is located on the right side of the road, just across from the Colorado Trail (#1776) trailhead.
Colorado Trailhead. Pushed north and though much of the CT was washed out, made my way to the Mt. Princeton trail and summited my first Fourteener! (14,197’). Beautiful little creek with a bridge. Love this spot!
Really nice trail with a good mix of sun and shade. Not too chunky, and well-marked as part of The Colorado Trail. It's about 1.5 miles and 900' elevation gain from the trailhead to a scenic outlook, but a gorgeous hike and well worth it.
