Caravelle Ranch camping is available for permitted hunters at designated primitive sites. Be cautious after heavy rains as they might close to protect the roads.
Great place to hunt, fish, hike, bike ride, etc - BUT BE ADVISED - check dates on the brochure for scheduled hunts. Out of courtesy you might want to avoid the area these dates if not hunting - if you HAVE to go those days and they let you in, it would be a great idea to wear blaze orange!
Excellent, underused trails along the canal. A possible 9 miles down and back under the canopy of old growth Live Oaks. Hard packed trails good for walking, running, bicycles, or horses. Big parking/picnic/camping area adjacent to the old Buckman Lock accessible through Rodheaver Boys Ranch road.
Great place to submerse oneself in nature and experience solitude in nature. Usually the only disturbance is from bass boats speeding up the barge canal. Weekdays are great. Wildlife includes vultures, hawks, eagles, osprey, aquatic birds, gators, lizards, tortoises, snakes, deer, armadillo, and I recently saw a pair a manatees. Bring a camera!

Beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Plenty of fish to catch, picnic tables, clean restrooms and friendly people visit here.
