Pinyon pine/oak shaded camp with breath-taking views of the San Joaquin Valley.
Located off of the Mt. Abel Road, approximately 10 miles south of Highway 33/166
Great views from the site, can be a bit tricky to turn right into, vault toilets, no trash and adventure pass is required.
Great campground with an amazing view (if you get the right spot). The best view is from site #5, but it also has the most exposure and no shade, so a bit of a trade off. Bugs can be annoying, bordering on very annoying, so plan accordingly. Despite overlooking the valley below the wind was fairly mild, which was a welcome surprise. Only has a single pit toilet, which is ... well it's here, so that's nice.
