This was our first time visiting and we will definitely be back! We had the best time. This resort is set up so you don’t have to leave if you don’t want to, but it’s close to everything if you want to venture out. We loved it so much that we came home and recommended it to friends who went the following weekend and also loved it!
The rooms were bigger than expected and extremely comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked that there were lockers to put everything at the water park and the bracelet for money so we didn’t have to carry much. Our kids liked the water park and Tom Foolery’s.
Truthfully, as much as you pay for a night the least this "resort" can offer is complimentary breakfast. Everything and I mean everything is utterly and completely overpriced. 52 dollars for a 14in pizza and a side of fries is ridiculous. That's not even including the tip. A 5 dollar water bottle is crazy to me. The beds were incredibly hard and the pillows were unbelievably uncomfortable. And I'm not sure if the rooms are cleaned thoroughly. There was a contact lens on the floor of the bathroom and Bobby pins in the bedside table. Other than the decent service, there's nothing good I can say about this place. It's a shame. The Kalahari seemed like a high end hotel, worth the money. But I'd rather have stayed at a Motel 6.
We had a nice time here but they can do better at this price point. Check in at the kiosk was easy however we found the wayfinding signage to be poor with nobody readily available at the kiosks to assist. I had to pull up a map on my phone to locate our room. The RFID wristbands are pretty neat. The room was spacious and clean albeit a bit dated. We hated the daylight bulbs in all the light fixtures. The kids loved the indoor water park and it was generally well kept with all attractions in working order. The bathrooms could've been cleaner and the locker rooms really need an upgrade...the 25 yr old middle school type locker rooms are not appropriate here. Time to upgrade to private shower/changing boothes. Both drinking fountains/bottle fillers were broken and drains were backed up. We drove into town for all our meals. All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional.
My list is so long of everything that went wrong with our visit to the Kalahari that I don’t even know where to start. There is no follow-through with the staff just lots of excuses. The restaurant on the main floor next to the coffee shop was absolutely the worst breakfast. My family and I ever had. The eggs were cold. The steak was chewy, and our napkins were delivered to us, covered in a half an inch of dust.
The overpriced out of date were just as bad. King size mattresses, being put on queen size bed frames to again dust and dirt everywhere. Make sure you check your sheets and your mattresses before you spend the night here. We forgot to do that to the end, and I have to tell you I feel like I still can’t wash the grossness off my body from sleeping there.
Would’ve been a great trip had it not been ruined by lack of service and lack of care for running a good hotel.
Easy to get to with a quick and easy check in process. We stayed in a large villa with family. Grandparents, 2 children and spouses and 5 grandchildren. Perfect space for our family. Villa's have 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The park itself was well kept and clean. Beverages and food were good. Prices as expected for a place such as this. Great family getaway!
