I have been going to Fish Lake / Bowery haven resort for over 49 years. It’s a family tradition we have kept up. It’s changed hands at least 4 times in the last 25 years and each owner gets better. The current owners have put a lot of capital improvements in the place but it’s so expensive now too. They also used to have a dine in restaurant, which I loved, but no longer. Now you order from a counter, and it’s burgers and chips, not even French fries. Not much choice. Apparently they make more money on t-shirts and hats which is where the restaurant used to be.
The motel rooms are clean and updated. That’s a plus!
I was there in July and there was so much car traffic outside my cabin, I was a little annoyed. Where has the peaceful, serene mountain/lake resort gone to? I miss so many parts of the old place but accommodations are 100% improved.
It’s still so beautiful up there!
We stayed in the RV Park. Having Full hookups was nice. Everything we needed was within walking distance. The lake was just across the street. My kids loved walking down to the shop for ice cream. The service was great, in the store, at the restaurant and the Marina when we needed to rent a slip. Everyone was so friendly. The only drawbacks were, how close the RV's are parked together and the lack of individual firepits, but that also goes along with lack of space. Other than that we had a fabulous time at Bowery Haven Resort
Our family loves Bowery Haven! We have for many years vacationed there in the summer. We loved the remodeled "motel" rooms. So nice! I stayed in cabin #11. Just a few suggestions... the beds are VERY uncomfortable, please get new ones. The windows, ceilings, and cupboards need to be cleaned throughly....a little gross. The staff were very accommodating. The location was absolutely gorgeous, as always. So worth our five days there!!! 💛
Arrived around 11:30,allowed us to check in 12 and that’s why I gave 2 stars. Newly remodeled motel room awe stayed was so gross. Didn’t clean thoroughly, dirty towels were still there when we arrived. “Clean” towel provided are yellowish and my wife and kids refused to take shower because of that. Sticky floor and dirty carpet….
We stayed at the RV park for our stay last week. When we stay somewhere we really want space where our RV is. We didn't realize there were no fire pits or picnic tables except community ones which were extremely crowded every night. I assume it's because it was just after a holiday but it was really really crowded. The RV spaces were really small we were sardined in and just packed together, it was always loud and you could hear the cars crunching on the gravel all hours of the night. We didn't see any dumpsters for our bags so we ended up having to take our trash with us when we left which was frustrating. The map didn't help other than help us identify where our lot was. There was no cell service too which was tough for the times we needed to contact family. The pros- Having full services was a plus. We liked the store, they had lots of amenities. They had a burger place inside which was really pricey and the burgers were so so. No inside seating so we had to sit outside in the heat. The thing we liked the most was the gorgeous lake. We rented a boat from the marina for one day and loved the experience. We would love to come back to fish lake again but won't ever stay at the RV resort again. I heard there's places with more space just down the road and we don't mind some dry camping if it means we don't have to hear our neighbors talking all hours of the night or hearing the cars all night.
