This site, sometimes referred to as Horton Lake, Hult Marsh, Hult Reservoir, or Mill Pond, was developed in the early 1900s for logging operations. The reservoir and surrounding wetland is about 40 acres and supports a rich diversity of wildlife, fish, and plant species. This recreation site is popular for activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, horseback riding, and scenic driving. From Eugene, Oregon take Highway 99 North for approximately 10 miles to Highway 36. Go west on Highway 36 for about 20 miles. Follow the signs to Horton, taking a right on Horton Road. Follow Horton Road for about 4 miles and then take a right on Lake Creek Road. Hult Reservoir is located about 2 miles down Lake Creek Road on the right.
Just an update - We drove there on 7/12 expecting to stay and the gate was closed. Nothing posted as to why, not sure if it changed after we left.
Nice lake and good camp sites. Way to many homeless living there permanently. Garbage is everywhere. Would not recommend.
Beautiful place. Let's all be hush-hush about it, though. Wouldn't want too many people there, or the free camping to change.
This is a perfect spot only about 20 miles out of town to go camping, fishing and hiking. No pay camp areas are an added bonus. Plus Hortons Store is just a little ways down the road with lots of things you may have forgotten and the Lady that runs it is super nice.
