Riley Creek Campground is a fairly wooded campground, with some screening between sites whenever possible. Most of the campground sites are open to either tent campers or vehicles / RVs. The proximity of Highway 3 means there is occasional traffic noise, but also means campers have all the conveniences and amenities of the park entrance area, and businesses outside the park, close at hand. Trails leading from the campground connect to the Denali Visitor Center, which is the central hub of trails in the entrance area.
Take Highway 3 from Fairbanks or Anchorage to reach the park. At Mile 237 on the highway, turn west into Denali. Drive a quarter-mile and look for signs on your left for Riley Creek Campground.
The camp ground hosts were awesome. They sincerely enjoyed what they were doing. I found it interesting that my son visited the park earlier and he had a similar experience. It was a husband and wife couple.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was so convenient to all the buses and shuttles into Denali. Rode our bikes everywhere. Very nice campground quiet and private.
We stopped here to hike and used the day parking area, but I have camped here before and it’s outstanding. You must have reservations. You’ll find tons of trails to hike on, majestic views, and Glitter Gulch with many restaurants and amenities close by. The visitor center is also within a short hike’s distance.
It's a popular campground. Peaceful. No hookups for campers. Picnic tables and fire pits at each site. Shower house that takes tokens and is timed for showers. Lots of trails and nature walks.
Very well maintained, well spaced campground.
Clean tent space, clean washroom. Advanced booking needed. There is a store around the campground if you need to buy any emergency supply.. Shower is available at additional ~5$.
You need to go and register at the camping office either in the campground mercantile or in the bus depot.
