Medicine Lodge Lake Campground is located in a remote setting on the shores of Upper Medicine Lodge Lake. Nearby trailheads offer access to the Cloud Peak Wilderness.
Seventeen miles east of Shell, WY on Hwy 14, then 24.5 miles south on FSR 17.
Was the 1997 camp host here. Lots Of wildlife. Moose. Mule deer elk. Etc. Had a good summer.
The nicest campground I've ever stayed in. Super cool setting, playground for the kids, and incredibly dog friendly.
Agree with previous posts, don't follow Google maps, 344 is an off road atv only route. Take red gulch instead, very good dirt road
DO NOT TAKE FS ROAD 344 FROM HYATTVILLE TO GET HERE!!! Take FSR 17 from Hwy 14 instead. Both Google maps and Garmin are both convinced 344 is a passable route. IT IS NOT, YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE AND TAKE UNNECESSARY CHANCES.
Seriously, FSR 17 might seem longer, but 344 ain't worth the risk.
Great area to camp! Lots of close trail riding, fishing, and hiking. Can't describe the views. Just go experience it for yourself!
