About Campground

Directions

From Madison: Head west on U.S. Highway 18/151 toward Dodgeville. Take the State Highway 78 South exit and head south on 78 to Blanchardville (Highway 78 will also become County Highway F). After passing through downtown Blanchardville on 78/F, turn right on County Highway F at the T-intersection where County F and Highway 78 split - there will be a road sign directing you toward the park (don't turn right at your first opportunity to take county F on the north side of Blanchardville prior to the downtown area). Continue following F for about 8 miles to Lake Road. Turn left (east) onto Lake Road (look for the large unlit park sign). The park office is about 1 mile east of County F on Lake Road on the right side.

If your looking too get away this is for you. Quiet, seems like good fishing. The hiking is mostly prairies and woods. Minimal cell service in many areas. 20 minutes away from towns. Good pizza and burgers at cork down bar. Nice showers at the campgroind

Beautiful lake with a great nature trail for birding. We were unable to swim due to an algae bloom, but enjoyed viewing the lake all the same!

Our campsite was spacious and well shaded. The only downside was the women's flush restroom in the campground was always dirty. From wads of toilet paper on the floor to clogged toilets. Please have better restroom manners, campers!

A great alternative park to other highly known state parks. The campsite was pretty spacious with a decent size fire pit area which included a grill. Had a beautiful lake with a beach area and an option to rent boats as well. Numerous trails for all experience levels and beautiful scenery. That being said the park is pretty secluded so make sure to bring extra supplies and they only accept cash for firewood and the visitors center. There is a small store/breakfast place just east of the park but is limited to products.

We spent an extended weekend camping at Yellowstone and it was great! We stayed at sure 64 and it was perfect - there was plenty of space and were private.

The trails were well maintained and well marked. There were beautiful views and would highly recommend.

We will definitely be back!

Just note cell reception was a bit spotty in some areas.

Went to the shooting range and it was very nice. Just used the short range shooting area on a Monday which was not crowded. People were courteous. The range clean. The park and lake were beautiful. The bathrooms by the lake were open and very clean. Will be back. Wish there were more free DNR shooting ranges.
