Very out of the way. Nice camp spots, but they're not very private, they're located along the main walking path. On a positive note, you won't have many people walking by because it's in the middle of nowhere high up on a mountain 😁 Fun place to take a day hike. Oh, and you have to pack your stuff quite a way into the camp spots, so I'd say it's more of a back packers campground, you definitely wouldn't want to lug a large cooler in there.
Amazing place! Many childhood memories here. Well maintained but still quite primitive for the adventure seekers. There is a really nice trail through old growth rain forest that goes all the way around the lake. Highly recommend spending the day as it's quite a trek to get here from any cities or towns. 🤟
I could live here forever. We were alone for the entirety of our three day stay. Bring firewood from along the way, everything around camp is very wet. Also, bug spray is a must.
First visit 6/26/22, a clear, hot summer day ☀️ Driving to the lake takes some doing, and I wouldn't recommend it for any vehicle with little ground clearance. The walk to the lake from the trailhead is short and easy. The lake itself is small and dark, but beautiful. If you want to go somewhere no sound of human civilization can be heard, Yahoo Lake will do the trick 🙉👍🏼 Counted 3 campsites on the ~1-mi walk around the lake, but there may be more I missed. Sites have tables and fire pits, not much else. Looks like there once was a camp toilet, but it's been decommissioned for some years. If you'll be camping out there, be prepared to dig some holes 💩🤣
