About Campground

Bar Harbor Campground is the Closest Campground to the town of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and other points of interest. We offer quality camping, at affordable prices and we accommodate the smallest tent to the largest RV. This quiet, family owned campground, open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, is perfect for families of all sizes. We are a family owned campground, and our focus is on making your stay a great one. We do things a little differently here. Most noticeable may be the fact that we don't accept advanced reservations. When you arrive, we give you a detailed map of the grounds, and invite you to drive through and pick the site that really suits your likes and needs. Find your spot, get set up, then come and see us in the office. As you can see from the map below, we offer everything you might need for memorable stay, and with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park close by, we're the perfect choice. Make sure and check our policies page to familiarize yourself with the campground rules. Please note that we do not accept credit cards, but we do take checks, and we have an ATM located in the office.

This place is perfect! The campground is very quiet, staff is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Other campers are couples older and younger, and families too. There's a playground for the kids, and tent sites with an ocean view, as well as tentsites further in the trees for windbreak and privacy. The facilities are spotlessly clean, and even the wifi works great, which if you've been to a lot of these you know is uncommon.

Right out front is an Island Explorer stop that's listed on all the schedules, plain as day. The bus comes first thing in the morning, and every 30min all day, makes it so easy to get anywhere and everywhere you want to go! Downtown Bar Harbor, the Acadia visitor center, and from there every favorite spot in Acadia! I didn't have to worry about parking anywhere at all, and folks can have a good time in the evening and come back safe to the campground.

I'll definitely be coming back, and bringing the whole family next time!

Great Campground, with clean bathrooms and hot showers. The pool is not very warm, even though it is “heated”. Nice sites, many are decent sized. They Do NOT take reservations, but there is always room for tents, and we have always been able to get electric & water, when staying over Labor Day weekend every year. You arrive, check in, drive around the campground, pick your site, come back and pay for the nights that you plan to stay. I have stayed at this campground three years in a row and I’ve been happy every time. They have a decent playground, but our kids are grown so we’ve never used it.

It was a very amazing place to stay because first of all they have everything tune 13 like a playground and a pool and the pool overlooks a very nice view. There is also a lot of blueberries and it is not overly expensive. The campsites are pretty big and pretty nice.

This campground is one of the cleanest well kept campgrounds I have stayed in. The bathrooms were impeccable!

The staff is kind, friendly and very helpful.

You can drive through and pick your own site, then report back to office.

The price is great, the view was beautiful.

It is very quiet. There is not a lot of "light pollution " so the night sky is quite visible and lovely!

We camped three nights in Acadia NP and decided to stay one more night in the area but the National Park was booked so we looked for other options and landed here. This place was awesome and I wish we’d found it sooner! You get to pick your own spot which is so cool. Literally drive through, find your spot then go pay! We had a tent and there’s an ocean view tent only lot where we ended up. It was perfect. Ocean views and SO quiet. On top of that- super clean bathroom & HOT showers 👌🏼 We were still close to everything in the National Park as well as Bay Harbor. The two women working were also the sweetest. Highly recommend this place!
