The 3,500-acre Codorus State Park is in the rolling hills of southern York County.
The 1,275-acre Lake Marburg has 26 miles of shoreline and is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds. The lake is also popular with sail and motor boaters.
Anglers love the lake for warmwater fishing and can also fish Codorus Creek for trout.
Picnicking, swimming in the pool, and camping are popular activities.
From I-83, take Exit 8. Go 18 miles west on PA 216 to the park. From PA 116 west and east of Hanover go through Hanover. Turn right onto PA 216 east and go three miles to the park.
Stayed in site 88 and loved it. Very spacious. Friends and family were in surrounding sites, so we basically had the whole corner to ourselves. Flat and wide. Well shaded with tall trees, but little brambles and underbrush allowed plenty of space for tents. Bathhouse was well maintained and heated. Only stayed for a weekend and spent that time relaxing at camp (just the way I like it), so did not get to explore the rest of the park more unfortunately.
Spent a weekend at Codorus State Park with my niece and her two kids. We could put up our tents on the land, rather than a pad, which was nice. Campsite was spacious enough that kids could play Frisbee and badminton. Bathhouse was clean enough. We found the playground on a short walk. We were in loop c. Didn't see the "fun police" as another reviewer claimed. Had a great time.
This state park is really beautiful. The water is so clear. The day that I was there, it was extremely foggy out, making it difficult to see far across the lake. I plan to go back more times to fish and picnic with my wife.
Great disc golf course, use Udisc to find your way around. Played the blue and red courses, both are fun in their own way. Only hole I didn't like was on the red course because it is basically an island in the middle of a parking lot. We played early right after Christmas so the lot was empty, which was good because I would have drilled a couple of cars otherwise. Would absolutely skip that hole on a busy day and would consider moving it since they had room elsewhere.
This is one of our favorite parks to go. Love the boat ride there. You have to call before you go for boat reservation. Also good for a little picnic. The natural beauty is amazing. Lots of birds & ducks there. Very serine.
