We were surprised to find this little retro gem in this small town. The rooms appear much as they did from when the hotel was built in the 30s or 40s and have been redecorated. Ours is a western theme.

There is a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and other amenities like free popcorn and library.

The room is clean, cute, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Very inexpensive to stay here.

Our stay was great. The room's were clean, comfortable beds and friendly staff. Price was very reasonable! Kids lived the popcorn and themed room. Walking distance to food and drinks.

The Northwestern is not only the only motel in Heppner, but also a pretty good one. With a bit of boutique hotel flair, every room is decorated differently. I stayed in the Cowboy Room, but you might get the Safari Room, or maybe the Oriental. The echo chamber courtyard can be a bit noisy, and activity starts really early in the morning. The rooms are smallish, typical for an old motor inn, but prices are decent, and the staff is always cheery and helpful.

We stayed here on a motorcycle trip as it happened to be at the end of a very windy road, but our expectations were more than exceeded. Beds and sheets were super soft and comfy, the gal that checked us in was very friendly and helpful and the courtyard outside the rooms was a wonderful way to meet and chat with other people and the value was unbelievable.

Would definitely stay here again!

Bad: The Mattress...So bad. See the other reviews also. I'm not the only one. It was horrible. It is a worn out foam mattress that you sink into. There were people (dudes) in the courtyard just outside the door making racket after 9 and before 6. It sounded like they were right outside my door. I could hear all their conversations. It was several loud AF individuals. The internet was kaput when I got up early in the morning because I didn't sleep much. No one is available in the office until 8am.

What do you want in a motel? A decent night's sleep - Nope on this one. Also, the first room I got a key for had base board heaters. That's fine except that when I went to turn it on there was a warning label about placing electrical cords or furnishings near the heater. It was completely blocked by a desk/table literally one inch from the face of the heater and also had an outlet block plugged in inches above it with all the cords laying on top of the heater. I pointed this out to her and she gladly let me switch to another room which was heated with a new space heater. Not ideal, but it worked fine and was safe. Based upon the management's sign asking you to not plug in the coffee maker and kettle at the same time, I'd say you'd better not use the space heater and and make coffee at the same time either.

Good: Front desk person was very nice and helpful. I was traveling with a dog. You can have a pet and it's only $10 extra. They provide you with 2 bowls, poop bags and a sheet to cover the bedspread. The room was clean and relatively inexpensive and it was 25 degrees outside last night.
