About Campground

This is a great place for either a picnic or overnight camping. McMillan Campground is in a riparian area surrounded by tall conifers. Since it is a small area it makes it more private for either a picnic or for camping. Cherry Creek runs in front of the campground and when it carries water makes a great splashing place for kids. This campground is cool in the summer time and very scenic in the fall. The dark green of the evergreens, golden aspen, rustic scrub oaks, coupled with the bright red of sumac vines make for wonderful fall colors.

Directions

The campground is located fifteen miles north of Silver City right off of State Highway 15.

3 camping spot off the beaten path Not for lower style vehicle and No larger trucks/Rvs.Tent camping only. The sposts are Small & Great for backpacking. Small hiking trail near. Warning watch for black bear they are there! Not recommend for dogs. Pit toilet could use better service. Overall nice roadside stop for overnight stay. This area has rain quite often in August/September. No water on site. Pack it in pack it out. Trash cans provided.

Our favorite place to go. We usually have a large group camp of 4 to 8 tents & 4 canopies set up. Very nice and clean area. Clean vault restrooms, trash cans available. Picnic and firepits are available. Beautiful scenery, but right next to the road which stays busy day and night. Small creek flows during monsoons and is subject to flash flooding. Tent camping only. We are planning to head that way in a couple weeks. Hoping to get in because it is a first come first serve basis.
