Myles Standish State Forest offers plenty of year-round activities for the entire family. If you’re looking for a place to camp, swim, or explore the outdoors, this southeastern park is for you.
Located in southeastern Massachusetts. From the North: Take Rte. 3 south to exit 5, turn right onto Long Pond Rd. (west) and continue for about 3 miles to the park entrance on the right. From Rte. 495: Take Rte. 495 to exit 2 (South Carver) and the intersection with Rte. 58. Take Rte. 58 north on Cranberry Rd., follow signs. From Southeast: Rte.3 north to exit#3. Left off of ramp. Right onto Long Pond Rd, 2 miles forest entrance.
With a Spring fed pond and lots of camping spaces, it's heaven on Earth.
A nice generally peaceful campground, with water access for boats or swimming. If you're bothered by engine noise, beware it's like 7am-sunset small planes flying overhead. Doesn't sound like much but imagine being next to a giant lawnmower all day.
Camp sites are right on top of each other, with almost no vegetation between them. There are a few decent ones, but you can't tell which are decent from the map. Also the DCR workers are kinda like Nazis now. Used to come to Myles Standish yearly, went away for like 6 years, and I come back to a bunch of people who wish they were cops running the place :/ At least they still let the ice cream trucks in.
We had an awesome experience camping right on the pond. And it's a great spot to fish or float 😊
