Otter Lake has 17 no hook up RV spaces and 7 tent spaces. The listed info above is not correct. The RV spaces are about three times larger than most RV sites and the space between each site is huge. Even if the park was full each RVer would have tons of room.
Off base. From jct Hwy 1 & Hwy 9: Go 37 mi S on Hwy 9.
12/10, one of the best kept secrets of the Anchorage area! Great lakes aside from the leeches, and the ambiance is quite amazing, especially the views of the mountains.
Absolutely loved it! We have been putting off camping with 7 kids for over a year because I didn't want to be stressed about the babies. But it worked out so good. There are 2 rooms in the cabin, 2 bunk beds, a full size bed, and a pullout couch. A table, 4 chairs, wood stove, small fridge, microwave, and enough floor space for a few kids and a pack and play. Fire pit and bbq and picnic tables make it perfect for making meals. Several windows with screens to keep the bugs out. My only complaint.... the gunny sack curtains and no covering on the front door window (which let in a lot of light during an Alaska summer). We were able to hang a towel on the door.
Our family had a great trip and the kids loved camping for the first time! I wish we had known before hand that there was no swimming at the lake as we would have preferred a place to play on the water, but the campground was nice and very family friendly! Beautiful lake and mountain views! The cabin we stayed in the last night was clean but the heater didn't work, but wasn't a big deal for us since the weather was nice.
Great time and rental prices. Prime location on JBER. Rented a pedal boat with the little one and just had a blast. Recommend it!
