This trailhead serves Anderson Butte National Recreation Trail (#505). Located in open timber, with a toilet, stock loading ramp, fire ring and parking space for five camper vehicles, it is very popular with big game hunters.
Traveling east on Hwy. 14 into Elk City, turn left on Sweeney Hill Road at the convenience store and Laundromat, cross the bridge over Elk Creek and stay right at the next junction. You will travel along open meadows on your right for 2 or 3 miles. At the T in the road, approximately 4 miles out of Elk City, stay left. Continue approximately 14 miles from Elk City to the campground.
Great campground next to the river, dog friendly, drinkable water, clean bathroom.
I don’t want to tell anyone how good this campground is … it is always booked, great place on the river, Fisherman’s paradise, Kayak, wildlife
Electric / Water hookups … No Sewer, but there is a dump station. Camp hosts are super nice, There is Wifi on one side of the campground.
No Cell coverage at all any carrier. Camp Host had Starlink but don’t know how well it works.
Great campground with even greater hosts. We dropped in to check for an opening and the host promptly showed us what was open and sites opening up within a few days. They walked us through securing a site online too. Would love to go back, but they will be closed most of 2023 for updates.
