Today, we came to enjoy the hiking trail seen on Carolina Thread Trail. Even though we were unable to find the starting point provided by them, the park had a lot of different trails. We first tried the lake trail it had a lot of different plants and weed covering the trail. Which made it exciting getting through them. We also did the kmps trailhead and a little of the Rideline trail. That gave us a little over 4.79 miles. The trails had a few types of creeks, and man made waterfall. We definitely want to go back to do the 16 mile loop one day. Lol
We camped here for a long weekend. It’s actually our second time here in the past year.
The first time we had super friendly service at the Trading Station. This time not so much. A young guy who seemed annoyed that anyone was in the store at all - bummer - maybe next time will be better.
The site was huge, shaded and we enjoyed our time here A LOT! The campground was busy but not completely full. Quite a few tent campers actually. For it being so wooded we thought there would be a ton of mosquitos- but we were pleasantly surprised that it was relatively mosquito free!
Friday night there were food trucks and music. We enjoyed having a picnic dinner from one of the vendors and talking with some of the other campers.
Verizon service is nearly nonexistent. We saw a bunch of kids loving the outdoors - riding bikes and playing. It was wonderful to see kids living their best life without screens in front of their faces.
There is a lot to do here - hiking, kayaking, riding horses, history re-enactments, learning about the revolutionary war, etc. We are already looking forward to our next trip here!
Two great parks in one. King's Mountain SC state park and King's Mountain National Battlefield Park. The state park is beautifully maintained. There are some great trails for nature lovers. They also invite food trucks on Fridays during the summer. It's great fun!!
The national battlefield park has is a great historical preservation site. There is a trail that goes all the way around the revolutionary battlefield. It wins through a beautiful hardwood forest, and is marked with a number of monuments along the path.
All in all this place is a great place for people who love nature and history 💯
Great place to come for a picnic and some family fun!!! The pond has fishing, walking paths, canoe, kayak, and john boat rentals!!! Also, it has a campground and a little store! The area for children to play is really nice! They have several picnic shelters that are available to hold birthday parties, gatherings, or family reunions!!! I would definitely recommend checking them out as a place to go on your next outing!!!
Beautiful park. I ran a 50k through the trails in a race called the Mountaineer Rumble. The race director and his team handle all trail maintenance throughout the year. Unbelievably clean and the trail markings make it very hard to get lost. The cabins were originally made in the 1930's. If you are looking for a rustic adventure....This is the place.
