The campsites are right on the river, and shaded. The caretakers, Lisa and her significant other are fantastic people! They deliver ice and fire wood, they even came around with ice cream novelties and when it got dark they brought glow necklaces to the kids. You could not ask for better hosts or a better campground. If you love the water and love to camp this is the place to be! We will be back!

Great little park just off of the 65 south exit 76. We tent camped at one of the electric sites. $20 per night. All camp sites are along the water and have shade trees, picnic tables and fire rings. There's a shower house/ restroom and multiple spots to get water. There is a small stocked lake for fishing, two shelter houses, a nice playground and a boat ramp.

Despite what their website says, you can only get a site in the afternoon. First come first served. The women who checks you in has a morning job and will not be there from 9 to 11 a.m. as stated on the website.

The restrooms and showers need to be cleaned more often. We were there all weekend, and the same cigarette butt and dead cicada were in the shower drain the whole time.

Overall a great little Park less than an hour away from downtown Indy.

Clean facilities and very family friendly. Excellent campsite prices. Firewood and ice available. Pet friendly. Plenty of local wildlife found on quiet days. See photos all taken from multiple camping trips my wife and I have enjoyed at Heflin. We have also found a wide variety of mushrooms in the wooded area of the park.

Good location right off I-65 near Columbus and Taylorsville, IN and at a great price. Lisa, the campground host is very friendly and flexible. If you’re bringing an RV or travel trailer, be aware that many of the pads/sites are very short. Some people turn their trailers sideways which makes things a little more cramped. The way our site was situated, our neighbor’s fire pit was 4-5 feet from our RV and they left a roaring fire unattended.

A couple of things to consider, the loop around the park is narrow and one way. That can cause a delay when someone is dumping, as the dump spot is on the loop near the bathhouse. You can’t make a reservation, it’s first come, first grab a spot, so that can be tricky when traveling in and you’re not sure about availability. The bathhouse was clean but full of bugs, mainly a result of the florescent lights that attract all varieties of flying and crawling critters. There isn’t a gate at night and there seems to be a slow stream of cars circling the campground, early in the morning and at night.

Overall a good stay and a great price, and when back in the area, we’d consider returning. Keep in mind it’s a campground with a few amenities vs. being a true park, but they do have a shelter, playground and fishing.
