Beautiful area with plenty of dispersed camping all around the lakes. About an hour an a half drive from Dotsero on coffee pot road, with gorgeous views all the way. Stock vehicle was able to make it on the dirt road with no problem. The Heart Lake itself is not too cold for being snow melt. It’s really clear and a great place to paddle board or kayak. However, there was not a whole lot of fish and would not recommend swimming since we saw a lot of leeches. Overall this is a Great Lake with plenty of exploring all around especially if you have an atv, side by side or a Jeep.
