South bound: On US-1 at MP 58.7, Gulfside (R)
Reserved and paid $2,400 for two weeks a year in advance. We were told that we would have the same waterfront site #7 as the year before. Instead we spent two weeks looking at mangroves instead of water. They also didn’t tell us we would be charged an extra $160 for using a charge card while they held my money for a year. We also paid $10.75 for two friends to visit for lunch. When they came back two days later to drop off food before they flew home, we were harassed twice and told we needed to pay another $10.75 for the 15 minutes they were there. We will NOT camp there ever again.
Wish we could give this rv resort 10 stars! Husband and I full-time RV’d for two years throughout the continental US. By far this resort was head and shoulders above any other we visited. Great location for day trips to key west or key largo. Jack and his team work very hard in maintaining the grounds/amenities and it shows. The pool was absolute perfection (especially while recouping from spine surgery). If you’re looking to have multiple people visiting/staying on a daily, screaming kids overtaking a pool or lax enforcement of site rules then book at the place a couple of miles up the road. Grassy Key RV was the perfect, peaceful location that we needed to relax and to enjoy all that the Keys offer her visitors.
The park very clean, quiet and relaxing. We really missed having a shower and rest room facilities. The rocks in driveways and campsites were hard to walk on. Pool was very nice.
It's a very nice campground. Very clean. No bathrooms but that didn't matter for us. It's very quiet but with kids I didn't feel like we were out of place. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars was the bugs were bad and pool closed at dusk so basically once it got dark at 6:00 we were stuck inside. If pool was open the bugs we could be in the water and not get eaten up. The marina was really nice as well.
