From jct I-8 & 51 (Buckman Springs Rd S exit): Go 6-1/2 mi S on Buckman Springs Rd S (S1), then 1-1/2 mi W on Oak Dr, then 1/4 mi SE on Lake Morena Dr.
First overnight backpacking trip to the perfect location. (NB permit needed ) The views with mountains, valleys, and lake were expensively beautiful. Never camped before overnight, but it was very rewarding to be in the wild under the star lit sky. Fishing permits are available for the lake.
Nice campground. Clean bathrooms and coin operated showers. We had a spot with full hookups. Only bad thing was that the lake was closed due to algae bloom.
