The area offers about 35 miles of backcountry trails, some of which climb to over 4,000 feet. In addition to the backcountry hiking opportunities, the area is also managed as a Black Bear reserve. This area also includes the Cohutta wilderness, lots of great backcountry hiking trails
We saw beautiful winter landscapes and even a couple of bears frolicking and running past.
If I could think one one word , other than beautiful to describe Big Frog .. it would be HOG . Big Freaking Hog . If you're familiar with Hogzilla , I believe I met his cousin . Big Frog is fantastic , and when you learn the Forest Service roads , you can be at the river in short time . But really , there are some fantastic hog [ an other animals / game ] there . Of course the hiking is wonderful , if that's your thing . The roads are decent , though I'd recommend a Pickup or SUV . They don't have to be 4 wheel drive , just a sturdy suspension and some clearance . I't a lovely place and it backs up to the Cohutta Wilderness which is massive
