This hiking trail is nice.
Some areas are unpaved but wide and smooth. Others are a bit steep and filled with pebbles.
There are plenty of pine trees.
There is a good view of Lake Arrowhead in certain places. There aren’t too many visitors.
It is a great place to step out of the busy world of the Inland Empire/ SoCal.
Great easy nature walk. We spent an hour on this hike including time for stops at the viewpoint. As folks have mentioned, the trail starts close to a busy road and you can hear traffic for the first half mile. After you get deeper into the hike, it fades substantially. The incline is very mild for seasoned hikers. We saw several children and families on the trail. The viewpoint shows a peekaboo view of lake arrowhead. The VFW memorial at the end of the trail is beautiful and worth a visit.
Beautiful trail. A group of 3 families with kids ranging from 4-14 years old went in February. There was still snow on parts of the trail. We heard from others on the trail that it’s a 2 mile loop, but part of us only made about 3/4 of a mile. I hope to return back someday. So glad this part of the forest was saved from development.
Good little hike with a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. Good for a walk with the dogs! The lookout has a ok view of the lake but still very beautiful.
It was a misty day in December…near the fallen heroes flag display is the sign marking the beginning of the trail. It is about a two-mile loop, some of it steep, not very well marked but there seem to be signs at critical junctures. Two marked viewpoints would I’m sure show lovely views of Arrowhead but it was just too foggy today to see anything.
