River access on Ouachita River.
From Mt. Ida, AR; turn right (north) on Arkansas Hwy. 27 for 1/2 mile; turn left (northwest) on County Road 59 for 3-1/2 miles to Forest Service Road 138; turn left (north) for 2-1/2 miles.
We took a 20 to 30 min drive out of Mt. Ida on a green rock road to get here. The signs were good and the river was excellent. When we were there the water level was such that there was a large gravel shore and 20 feet of shallow river to sit in before it dropped off into the deeper portion. Kids and dogs had a great time. Would go again.
Clean, pretty and a great place to get away. Great swimming for young and old.
Very secluded ... These pictures show a day after heavy rain..it is in a flashflood zone even though the level of the park is 15ft higher than where I took the pics..8 miles on country road to get there..
About a 20 minute drive off paved road, and sometimes relatively thin clay/Gravel. The forest road system towards this park is especially tucked away, with some of the most forks and turns I have ever seen. The campground is not too big and has an outhouse. Great place to pick up a float trip. Is right across the river from the dragover pickup location. When the water is especially high (over 5 ft,) it is difficult to lift kayaks & canoes over the dirt ledge.
I go to river bluff a lot and it's not too bad of a place. It has a great swim area with both shallow and deep parts and some parts with rocks to sit on. It does pretty decent most of the time with a few exceptions.its maintained some what a lot... There isn't really parking, I mean yes but it doesn't really look like parking spot. You basically park wherever you want. You can also cross over to drag over recreation site from river bluff which is good. all and all it's definitely a great place to swim and enjoy the river view
